ABOUT SAINIK SCHOOLS

Sainik Schools

The Sainik Schools are an Indian school system founded and operated under the Ministry of defence by the Sainik Schools Society. Rectify social and class imbalances among Indian Military Officers and train students to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune and Indian Naval Academy. Today there are 26 such schools which cover all the country's states.

A national school admission test is available at all Sainik Schools Entrance Examination in India (AISSEE), which provides admission to Classes 6 and 9 throughout India.

Written test

A written test will be held on first/second Sunday of January every year. Details of the test are given below:

CLASS VI:
1 Mathematical Knowledge Test & Language Ability Test 2 hr
2 Intelligence Test 1 hr

The test can be taken in English, Malayalam or Hindi.

CLASS IX:
1 Mathematics and Science 2 hr
2 English and Social Studies 2 hr

The Question papers for class IX will be in English only.
The syllabus and question pattern given are subject to changes from time to time.

Interview & medical test

The boys who qualify in the written test will be required to appear at a later date before a Selection Board for an interview and Medical Test. Full details regarding qualifying medical standards will be announced later.


Centres of written test

  • i. All Sainik Schools in India.
  • ii. In Kerala state, candidates can take the test at any of the following centres provided at least 20 candidates appear from that centre: -
    • KAZHAKOOTAM
    • KOTTAYAM
    • ERNAKULAM
    • KOZHIKODE
    • PALAKKAD
    • KAVARATHI (LAKSHADWEEP)

Interview & medical test

The interview and medical test will be held at selected places after announcement of the results of the written tests.
